It’s time for job security, fair pay, and benefits for contract faculty!

Too many contract faculty have to reapply for their jobs every term, are hired to teach courses for which they are paid less than their full‐time tenure‐stream colleagues, and lack access to benefits.

It’s time to recognize the contribution contract faculty make in our university community and in the classroom. Faculty working conditions are student learning conditions.

Job security, fair pay, and benefits for contract faculty will deliver fairness for workers and protect the high‐quality education our students deserve.

October 16-20, 2023 is Fair Employment Week, an annual national campaign to raise awareness about precarious employment on campuses and support local organizing to improve the working conditions of contract academic staff and faculty. Use the resources below to support a local event, spread the word, and get others involved in our movement for #fairness4cf.

We have three different flyers, print them all or reach out to for a customizable version.

Solidarity Is Our Strength Campaign

Every year, OCUFA’s Contract Faculty Committee hosts a social media day of action to build momentum for #fairness4CF. In 2023, our goal was to showcase the solidarity between tenured faculty, students, and contract faculty on campuses across the province–and we succeeded!
