The Faculty Associations in the 21st Century conference, in celebration of OCUFA’s 50th anniversary,  provided an opportunity to look at the evolution of OCUFA and university faculty associations in Canada over the past 50 years and consider what has and hasn’t been accomplished, the directions and goals that faculty associations might pursue in the future, and how those aims could be achieved. The key themes included:

  •  OCUFA at 50: exploring our past, celebrating our present and planning our future
  • How can faculty associations respond to the challenges of change in labour relations and the academic labour market?
  • Expanding the scope of engagement with other associations and unions, local communities and the broader public
  • Creating inclusive organizations: lessons from the past, opportunities for the future
  • Promising developments in faculty activism across the globe

The one day conference was held at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel on October 24, 2014.
