Fairness for Contract Faculty
It’s time for job security, fair pay, and benefits for contract faculty!
Too many contract faculty have to reapply for their jobs every term, are hired to teach courses for which they are paid less than their full‐time tenure‐stream colleagues, and lack access to benefits.
It’s time to recognize the contribution contract faculty make in our university community and in the classroom. Faculty working conditions are student learning conditions.
Job security, fair pay, and benefits for contract faculty will deliver fairness for workers and protect the high‐quality education our students deserve.
Send an email to four Ontario election leadership candidates asking them to show their support for strong sectoral funding, long-term investments for Northern universities, removing barriers to domestic student enrolment, fairness for contract faculty, and increased student aid at all Ontario’s universities.
Take part in OCUFA’s social media day of action on Monday, February 24 by sharing these graphics on your social media page. With the provincial election taking place at the end of the month we have an opportunity to tell election candidates to Stop the gigification of teaching and provide stable permanent jobs for contract faculty.
Reach out to Jordyn Perreault-Laird if you have any questions about the social media day of action or the resources.
Below you can find some social media sharable, posters, and other useful materials in both English and French.
Solidarity Is Our Strength Campaign
Every year, OCUFA’s Contract Faculty Committee hosts a social media day of action to build momentum for #fairness4CF. In 2023, our goal was to showcase the solidarity between tenured faculty, students, and contract faculty on campuses across the province–and we succeeded!
