The successful candidate is part of a team of policy staff who work collaboratively to deliver the services required to meet OCUFA’s mandate, provide support for OCUFA’s member associations, and assist in related advocacy initiatives. The Pensions & Benefits Research Analyst will work closely with the Director of Collective Bargaining Services. This is a part-time position that is being offered on a 12-month contract.

Areas of Responsibility
- Review and analysis of existing single employer pension plans, as well as, applicable multi-employer jointly sponsored pension plans in the sector;
- Provide tactical and strategic input on pensions and retirement towards OCUFA’s member associations’ broader collective bargaining preparations;
- Analyze and advise on legislation and government policy affecting pension plans in the university sector; and,
- Other duties which may be assigned from time to time as the needs of OCUFA, or its circumstances, change.
Skills and Requirements
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in directly negotiating and/or supporting the negotiation of pension changes, particularly in the area of conversions from single-employer pension plans to multi-employer pension plans;
- High level of demonstrated research and analytical skills;
- In-depth understanding of collective bargaining negotiation and strategy;
- Extensive background in collective bargaining and labour relations within the public sector, but preferably in the postsecondary education sector;
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario higher education sector;
- A passion for and/or background in postsecondary education;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work on projects collaboratively but independently;
- Understanding of and commitment to OCUFA policies, practices, and objectives; and,
- Minimum of a graduate degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
This is a limited-term, part-time position, classified as Policy Level A, as defined in the terms and conditions of employment governed by the Collective Agreement between OCUFA and CUPE Local 1281. This position is being offered on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of renewal up to an additional 12-months, based on project scope and organizational needs. The hours of work will average 20 hours per week, with the salary pro-rated, based on a full-time (35-hour/week) salary range from $87,571.01 to $114,173.33. Full benefits are offered in accordance with the Collective Agreement. All OCUFA staff act under the direction and authority of the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director.
This position is based at the OCUFA office in downtown Toronto, Ontario, with limited opportunities for remote work, and is subject to public health guidelines.
